Christmas time! Mistletoe and wine! Festive fun at Franklyn Care

This year at Franklyn Care we tried to make the festive season more special than ever, with the lights up, decorations set both inside and out, and lets not forget the magnificent sweet treats and Christmas dinners that were made for both staff and residents.

Take a look at the exciting and very talented arts and crafts that some of the lovely residents have been spending their time doing in preparation for Christmas. You can tell that some of the ladies were trying to show off their festive nails rather than the snowflakes they’ve made! This little craft day also consisted of a lot of drawing and festive colouring in.

Now we feel as though Christmas isn’t quite Christmas without a few baked good and treats. So this year our excellent staff baked some magic in the kitchen and treated everyone to lovely homemade doughnuts with lots of chocolate and sprinkled toppings. Not only that, our team went above and beyond creating these little rice crispy snowmen!

Hello Santa! Everyone was very pleased to see Father Christmas on the big day, it was nice of him to take time out of his busiest day of the year to cheer up everyone in the home by handing out presents and spreading the Christmas joy!

Ahh, Christmas Dinner! The big meal was absolutely delicious and Santa was helping out by serving the bucks fizz! With the Christmas classics playing in the background, crackers were popped and opened, and a lot of the residents were telling jokes and wearing the traditional Christmas crowns whilst enjoying their lovely meal.

Everyone in each home have really enjoyed Christmas this year and we hope your Christmas has been just as special!

Remember, remember the 11th of November. Lest we forget.

Last Saturday Marked the 104th anniversary of the end of the first world war. On this day we find ourselves standing at the intersection of history and gratitude, taking a moment to honour the brave men and Women who sacrificed for the cause of peace.

This day is really important to some of our residents, with it being either themselves or close relatives who were involved with the war. So we dedicate our thoughts to those who served, remembering their courage, resilience and selflessness.

Over at Hilcrest, blessed with the blue skies and sunny weather, a handful of the residents and staff spent their two minutes saluting outside.

With the streets decorated across the UK, they serve as poignant reminders of the courage and resilience that our soldiers had and still have. From the trenches of World War I to the battlefields of more recent conflicts, we honour the stories that should never be forgotten.

On this significant day, we had the remembrance service playing in the homes along with a two minute silence at eleven O’clock. At the Gatehouse we even had our lovely friend Laura The Yorkshire Piper with us to play the bagpipes.

Guy Fawkes Night! Starting November with a Bang!

The Firework show and bonfire were not the only attractions at Catterick that night. there were fun games to play, and crazy rides for the kids!

And to finish off a lovely evening out, a handful of the folks at Hillcrest ventured over to the local pub for a few beers and a few laughs!

Wrapped up warm, sparklers were sparkling and the fire was crackling. To celebrate the start of the winter season, some of the staff and residents took a little trip out to the Catterick Garrison bonfire night event and they had a blast!

Not only did some of us go out to the local bonfire night, we also had a few sparkles and bangs back at the home! with some daringly facing the cold to see the show from outside.

Here are a few captures of the little show we put on here at the Gatehouse. A lovely little audience of both staff and residents gathered out in the back garden!

Halloween of 2023 with Franklyn Care

“Lock your doors and don't catch a fright, we’ve had the spooky season at our homes the other night!”

Take a look at our spine-chilling Halloween décor, spooktacular pumpkin carvings and exciting activities we have had at each of the homes to celebrate the fright night.

Meanwhile at the Gatehouse, there’s no shortage of fun games and activities for our residents to enjoy.

Here at Hillcrest, meet these two artistic chaps, showing us their Halloween spirit, prepping and carving out pumpkins, ready for the night!

Thanks to our pumpkin carving team, we were able to make and bake some delicious spooky sweet treats!

Stobars Hall - Heartwarming story in the Sun Online

Manager Tony Carlin and his fantastic staff team at Stobars Hall have been commended in the Sun Newspaper for their efforts in reuniting one of their residents with his wife on their 60th Wedding Anniversary. The surprise face to face visit arranged for him and his wife, instigated by his daughter brought a tear to everyone’s eye. Family is at the heart of everything we do and this is a lovely story to share…
